Sightseeing in Jaipur (Rajasthan):

> The City Palace: In the heart of the old city is the former royal residence built in a blend of Rajasthani and Mughal styles. The palace houses a museum with a superb collection of Rajasthani costumes and archery inlaid with enamel and embellished with jewels. It also has an art gallery with an excellent collection of miniature paintings, carpets etc.

> Jantar Mantar: A stone observatory  - largest of Maharaja Jai Singh's five remarkable observatories. Its complex instruments, whose setting and shapes are scientifically designed, represent the high points of medieval Indian astronomy. The most striking of these are the Ram Yantras used for gauging altitudes.

> Hawa Mahal: 
The five storey palace of winds, built in 1799 A.D. is a major Rajput landmark. It is semioctagonal and has very delicately honeycombed sandstoned windows. This monument was originally conceived for the ladies of the royal household to watch the royal processions of the city and everyday life.

> Amber Fort: Overlooking the Delhi Jaipur highway, the image of the Amber Fort is beautifully reflected in the lake below. Within the Fort lies the famous Jai Mandir (Temple) with its world renowned Sheesh Mahal, a hall full of Mirrors. The walls and the ceiling of the Mahal are covered with a beautiful array of Mirrors which reflects any streak of light, so as to illuminate the Entire Room. Located at 9 Kms north west of Jaipur, the Amber Fort was once the Capital of the Minas.

> Jaigarh Fort: One of the few military structures of medieval India, retaining its ancient splendor in palaces, gardens, a giant mounted cannon - the Jai Ban, one of the biggest in the country is preserved here.

> Nahargarh Fort:
Beyond the hills of Jaigarh stand the fort of Nahargarh like a watchful sentinel guarding Sawai Jai Singh's beautiful capital. Much of the original structures are now in ruins, but the lovely buildings added by Sawai Ram Singh II and Sawai Madho Singh II in the 19th century are preserved in a good condition. Some of the rooms provide the most spectacular view of the city below.

Some other places of interest are Jal Mahal, Birla Planetarium, Jain Temple, Govind Deo temple, Nahargarh Fort, Gaitor, Sisodia Garden, Dolls Museum.

Destinations of interest near Jaipur:
Ramgarh Lake: This is a huge artificial lake created by constructing a high bund amidst tree covered hills. Its beautiful landscape, especially during monsoons,makes it an idyllic picnic spot. It is 32 kms north east of Jaipur and 250 km from Delhi, on the Delhi-Jaipur highway.
Sawai Madhopur: 180 kms from Jaipur, lying on the main Delhi - Mumbai railway line, Sawai Madhopur is the gateway to the world renowned Ranthambhor National Park - the famous tiger reserve.
Neemrana: 135 kms from Jaipur and 122 kms from Delhi, located just off the Delhi-Jaipur highway between Jaipur and Delhi, Neemrana Fort Palace is Rajasthan's closest fort-palace to India's Capital, now converted into a hotel. The stepped palace cuts into the hillside to sprawl over 3 acres and rises to nine levels. Well appointed rooms, each having a distinct character and history, furnished in an eclectic mixture of traditional Indian and colonial furniture welcome discerning travellers.
Kesroli: Located in the heart of the 'golden triangle', Kesroli is almost equidistant from Delhi, Agra and Jaipur a mere 3 hours away. The 14th century Kesroli Fort Hotel situated atop a hill commands splendid and soothing agrarian views.
Sariska: 130 kms from Jaipur, Sariska is a popular tiger reserve. Next to this reserve, nestling amidst incredible beauty is the Sariska Palace, which once was the hunting lodge of the royal family of Alwar.
Bharatpur: The eastern gateway to Rajasthan, Bharatpur is popular for its bird sanctuary - the Keoladeo Ghana National Park - finest in Asia with a rich avian variety. During season about 400 species of exotic birds can be identified here.
